SUMMARY: Under general supervision, perform a variety of high-level clerical work to assist the Special Education Department. Maintain accurate and up-to-date confidential Special Education student files (computer and hard copy). Review incoming records for completeness and prepare inactive files for archival. Process incoming Special Education records for supervisors’ use, copy and disseminate requested information by leadership staff.   • Maintain student records and process requests for information.
  • Input case management notes and other information into student information systems.
  • Maintain scheduling data on computer.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records and other documents as required.
  • Run and gather data reports to assist case management and student accounting. Accounting
  • Track, monitor and complete necessary paperwork for third party billing. Other
  • Answer and respond to incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.
  • Make meeting arrangements for department activities including preparing materials, scheduling, and setting up facilities, and arranging equipment.
  • Receive, sort, and distribute mail and other documents to department staff. Policy, Reports, and Law
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Develop and maintain systems for retrieval of information in support of all programs; compile, maintain, file, and secure all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents.
  • Pursue Professional Development activities for self and assigned staff; ensure that Professional Development activities are aligned with District goals and initiatives and current professional research.
  • Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives.
  • Comply with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
  • Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Associate degree (preferred) Experience: Three (3) years successful clerical experience SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records
  • Ability to use software to develop or maintain spreadsheets and databases and do word processing
  • Proficient keyboarding and file maintenance skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
