SUMMARY:
Supervise students assigned to in-school suspension (ISS) for disciplinary reasons. Work under the general supervision of the campus Principal, Assistant Principal, and the immediate direction of a certified teacher. Maintain a highly structured and orderly environment on a daily basis.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Instructional Support
- Work with certified teacher and campus administrators to create and maintain an orderly and highly structured classroom environment.
- Work with individual students to complete assignments given by classroom teacher.
- Consult classroom teachers regarding student assignments.
- Distribute, collect, and check student assignments for accuracy.
- Maintain individual files of completed student assignments and return them to classroom teachers.
Student Management
- Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Record student attendance and discipline referrals according to established procedures.
- Supervise students assigned to ISS during lunch and bathroom breaks.
Other
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and special events and serve on staff committees as required.
- Provide other clerical and instructional assistance as needed when students are not assigned to ISS.
- Ensure that all interactions with students, District personnel, and parents are supportive, courteous, and respectful.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Maintain confidentiality.
- Develop and maintain systems for retrieval of information in support of all programs; compile, maintain, file, and secure all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents.
- Pursue Professional Development activities for self and assigned staff; ensure that Professional Development activities are aligned with District goals and initiatives and current professional research.
- Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives.
- Comply with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
- Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma or equivalent*
- Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate
- Valid Educational Aide III Certificate**
*For positions funded by Title monies or for positions at campuses identified as a campus-wide Title campus, the following additional qualifications apply:
- Associate degree, two years of study at an institute of higher learning or have met formal academic assessment as required by Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) for aides who are providing instructional support in Title I, Part A program.
**Note: An Educational Aide III certificate is required for aides assigned to a setting where students Grades 9–12 are assigned for less than six weeks. A valid Texas Teaching Certificate is required when students Grades 9–12 are assigned more than six weeks. (See State Board for Educator Certification, Teacher Assignment Chart, page 26).
Experience:
- One (1) year of clerical/secretarial experience (or related experience) in an office setting
- Experience in educational environment (preferred)
