SUMMARY:
Provide for the safety of all students, staff, and visitors and the security of all District and campus property and equipment. Patrol and monitor the school and be available to respond to any property within the District at the direction of District Supervisors. Maintain campus security, protect District property against vandalism, illegal entry, and theft, and respond to emergencies or calls for service.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Security Operations
Respond to and immediately address any active armed threat incident on campus.
Patrol assigned campus and be visible throughout the day, especially during passing periods, lunch periods, drop off, and pickup.
Conduct frequent exterior door sweeps to ensure all doors are locked, closed, and functioning properly.
Prevent entry or report presence on grounds or buildings of unauthorized persons violating District rules, guidelines, and policies.
Prepare incident and other miscellaneous reports about crimes against the District property and o?enses against District personnel or students, as well as daily and weekly exterior door checks as requested.
Patrol and work?at?extra-curricular events to observe student behavior and prevent violations or unsafe activities when requested by District Supervisors.
Assist campus administrators with emergency lock-down drills and review of the Campus Emergency Operation Plan (EOP).
Take immediate emergency action as appropriate.
Check in with each campus administrator/staff to address and assist with concerns and or security issues.
Work closely with campus and administration officials to develop an attitude sensitive to the need for creating and maintaining a safe and secure environment.
Assist staff, police, and emergency personnel in handling emergencies or disruptive situations.
Intercept and appropriately handle unauthorized visitors.
Notify administrators, police, and other emergency personnel of any emergency, dangerous situations, or unusual circumstances to include evidence of substance abuse, child abuse, child neglect, medical conditions, or mental health crises.
Demonstrate professional and ethical behavior working with students, parents, school District personnel, and outside agencies associated with the school.
Comply with the Employee Standards of Conduct.
Must participate and remain current in all required training and certifications

Safety
Protect students, staff, and visitors from dangerous threats.
Patrol and monitor campuses and surrounding areas in accordance with District patrol patterns to ensure the safety and well-being of students, staff, and visitors, as well as the security of facilities.
Patrol school corridors, locker rooms, restrooms, assembly and athletic facilities, gymnasiums, bus loading areas, and other campus locations to observe student behavior and prevent violations or unsafe activities.
Communication
Maintain effective and constructive relationships with the campus principals, campus staff, and District staff.
Utilize effective communication skills to ensure interactions are courteous and respectful.
Other
Wear District provided uniform.
Participate in ongoing training and continuing education.
Maintain accurate and complete records as required by TEA and the District; file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required. Maintain daily Activity Checklist.
Report and provide school administrators and other authorized personnel information regarding improved campus/community relations opportunities.

Maintain confidentiality.
Prepare and deliver written and oral presentations as directed by District Supervisors.
Develop and maintain systems for information retrieval in support of all programs.
Compile, maintain, file, and secure all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents.
Pursue Professional Development activities for self and assigned staff; ensure that Professional Development activities are aligned with District goals and initiatives and current professional research.
Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives.
Comply with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Texas License to Carry or must be obtained within 60 days of employment.
Valid Texas Driver’s License
High School Diploma or GED
Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
Department of Public Safety (DPS) School Safety Certification required or must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
Level 3 Security License (Armed) required or must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
Experience:
Successful related work experience.
Three (3) years experience in some combination of law enforcement, military, emergency management, or school safety and security, or equivalent as determined by the District.
