SUMMARY:
Maintains the flow and drainage of water, air, and other gases by assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures district-wide. Maintains and provides for the safe condition and operation of plumbing systems in district facilities.

- Model core organizational beliefs and values; perform duties in an effective and efficient manner for the purpose of supporting and contributing to the achievement of district goals.
- Repair or replace bathroom and kitchen fixtures as directed.
- Maintain, repair, and replace sewer lines as directed; perform full maintenance on sewer treatment plant.
- Maintain, repair, and replace sprinkler systems, hot water heaters, and boilers as directed.
- Perform full maintenance on kitchen grease traps.
- Perform winterizing procedures on buildings without heat.
- Install water and sewer systems in remodeling or portable buildings as directed.
- Maintain, adjust, repair, and replace drinking fountains as directed.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
- Accurately report work hours using the time clock to report start and end times.
- Attend required meetings, educational classes, and workshops.
- Utilize effective communication skills; ensure that all interactions are supportive, courteous, and respectful.
- Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives.
- Comply with the Employee Standards of Conduct.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Ability to diagnose plumbing problems and perform repairs independently
- Ability to size, select, and install plumbing service and equipment
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to lift equipment
Equipment Used: PC Computer, hand tools, sewer rooter machines, commode augers, pipe cutters and threaders, electrical test meters, manifold gauge, leak tester, forklift, vacuum pumps, welding soldering torch, flaring tools, oil pumps, water pumps, pipe wrenches, chemical pumps and chemicals for water treatment
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Licensed Texas Journeyman plumber
- Valid Texas driver’s license with a record of safe driving
Experience:
- Four (4) years successful related experience
MENTAL/PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Frequent walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying
- Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, around plumbing, outside and inside
- Exposure to extreme temperatures
- Occasional overtime or shifted hours
- Frequent district-wide travel
- Lifting of 60+ lbs
- Work in all weather conditions
- Irregular, prolonged, and adjusted schedules
