SUMMARY: 

 

Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacherMonitor students taking online courses and assist in preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 

 

Instructional Support 

 

  • Monitor students working in online courses through Tarrant County College (TCC). 
  • Provide instruction to students under the direction of teacher, work with individual students or small groups. 
  • Help teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays. 
  • Help with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments. 
  • Help maintain neat and orderly classroom. 
  • Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment. 
  • Help the teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports. 
  • Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers. 

 

 
Student Management 

 

  • Monitor students working in online courses through Tarrant County College (TCC). 
  • Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside classroom.  This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty. 
  • Interact with students in an equitable manner, including the fair application of rules; help manage the behavior of assigned students as needed and according to district policy. 
  • Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student’s special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs. 
  • Make teachers aware of special needs or problems of individual students. 

 

 

Policy, Reports, and Law 

 

  • Maintain confidentiality. 
  • Participate in professional development programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned. 
  • Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives. 
  • Comply with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators. 
  • Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

 

Education/Certification: 

 

  • High School Diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) Certificate 
  • Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate 
  • Crisis Prevention Institute Training – if required by campus 

 

 

Experience: 

 

  • One (1) year successful experience working with children

  • Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics 
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions 
  • Ability to work well with children 
  • Ability to communicate effectively 
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to use personal computer 
  • Knowledge of general office equipment

  • Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; other specialized and adaptive equipment used by students

  • Frequent standing; kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

  • Frequent walking and reaching  

 

Lifting: 

 

  • Frequent light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); occasional lifting up to 25 pounds 

 

Environment:  

 

  • Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise and computer monitors; exposure to biological hazards (bacteria, communicable diseases) 
  • Work to be completed on-site from assigned school or building
