Keller Early Enrichment Program (KEEP)

SUMMARY:
Provides nurturing care and education to young children in the Keller Early Enrichment Program (KEEP) in accordance with District and program goals, social-emotional, developmental, and educational needs for the students, and state child care standards while maintaining a safe, enriching, and inviting atmosphere.

BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Model core organizational beliefs and values; communicate openly and effectively within and across teams; and manage resources to effectively support District goals.
- Promote a positive and caring climate for learning.
- Supervise and monitor the safety of children in your care.
- Supervise children throughout the day, inside and outside of classroom, according to duties assigned. Daily assist children with physical needs and personal care, including feeding, bathroom need (diapering), and personal hygiene according to their needs.
- Learn and adapt to each student’s physical, communicative, and emotional needs.
- Demonstrate competency, good judgment, and self-control in the presence of children and when performing assigned responsibilities
- Relate to children with courtesy, respect, acceptance, and patience.
- Organize activities and implement curriculum that allow children to learn about the world and explore interests at an individual pace for each child.
- Adhere to schedules and routines to ensure that children have enough physical activity, rest, and playtime.
- Teach daily lessons in accordance with child care curriculum and individual child’s needs.
- Keep records of children’s progress, routines, and interests.
- Prepare and organize mealtimes and snacks for children.
- Report any suspect child abuse following state guidelines.
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
- Ensure security measures are in place and utilized to maintain the safety of the children.
- Demonstrate support for the district’s policies, regulations, procedures, and objectives.
- Communicate and collaborate with the Coordinator of KEEP operations.
- Follow cleanliness and safety guidelines.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and special events and serve on staff committees as required.
- Utilize effective communication skills; ensure that all interactions with students, district personnel, and parents are supportive, courteous, and respectful.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Comply with all policies, operating procedure, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives.
- Comply with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standards Practices for Texas Educators.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma
- Training or coursework in infant, toddler, and/or early childhood care preferred
Experience:
- Experience/knowledge in child care setting

- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Work with frequent interruptions
- Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
- Frequent heavy lifting of students
- 50-80 pounds unassisted
- Potential exposure to bodily fluids and communicable diseases
- Regular district-wide travel
